(Move down to see further photographs)
Hare with arm in a sling riding a tortoise mascot by Henri Payen c.1920's. This is an extremely rare and important piece, that combines humour and pathos. Photographed and described in Michel Legrand book 'Mascottes Automobiles' Plate 810.
Dimensions : 140mm high.
Condition : The hare is finished in dark bronze, contrasting beautifully with the lighter coloured bronze tortoise. Fantastic original patination that only eighty years honest use can ever bring.
