(Move down to see further photographs)
Horses Head (Longchamp) - this is a unique extremely fine Cire Perdue (Lost Wax) silvered bronze mascot. It depicts the bust of a rearing race horse with double mane. c.1928/9. This is believed to be the actual model chosen by René Lalique for his famous 'Double Mane Longchamp' Art Deco glass mascot, which he created in June 1929. A photograph in Felix Marcilhac book shows the larger plaster showroom model in his studio at the time. Page 174, (Photo taken by H.Lacheroy). The piece carries the sculptors plaque to rear 'Sculpt. Mecque. Alle Collas'. It is an unrecorded mascot. A wonderful asymmetric one off piece in all its glory.
Dimensions : 145mm high, 160mm long.
Condition : Absolutely first class detailed casting with wonderful muscle tone and great movement, and original sculptors plaque to rear of the base.
