Red Ashay Epsom c.1928. This is one of the rarest of all the production run of the 30 Red Ashay mascots. It shows a horses head straining forward and was produced in direct competition to Lalique’s smaller counterpart, Epsom. This example shows that the Aucher Company could produce fine mascots not only with wonderful design, but also rival the fine glass texture of Lalique at his very best. This is a true 'Work of Art' and the ultimate Red Ashay mascot. It is mounted on a fine metal display base above an original 1929 radiator cap.
Red Ashay was the trade name for the Aucher Company, 1928-1939. They went out of business with the outset of WWII. See Kay and Springate book, 'Car Mascots' for detail on the Aucher company.
